FORT WORTH, Texas – UCLA placed third at the NCAA Championships, scoring 197.5375 to finish behind Oklahoma (198.3375) and LSU (197.8250).

The Sooners finished off an unbeaten season by winning their fourth NCAA title. Oklahoma totaled 49.6 or higher on their last three events to take control of the competition, while UCLA had shaky moments on balance beam and floor exercise.

The Bruins started the meet with a 49.3875 on balance beam, receiving 9.9+ scores from Kyla Ross (9.95), Norah Flatley (9.9125) and Grace Glenn (9.9), along with a 9.85 from Brielle Nguyen to keep within 0.0625 from first-place Oklahoma, who scored 49.450 on uneven bars.

The meet got away from UCLA in rotation two, however, with two out-of-bounds deductions and other deductions on opening tumbling passes on the first four routines. Katelyn Ohashi (9.95) and Ross (9.9125) were the only two to score over 9.9, and Pauline Tratz added a 9.8625. The Bruins scored just 49.3 on floor, dropping to third place with a 98.6875. The Bruins trailed Oklahoma, who hit a 49.6125 on beam to improve its total to 99.0625, and LSU, who scored 49.4614 on bars to jump UCLA with a 98.8375.

UCLA earned 49.425 on vault, led by a 9.95 from Ross and a 9.9125 leadoff vault by Nia Dennis. Felicia Hano added a 9.8875, and Tratz scored 9.875. Oklahoma continued to pull away, however, scoring 49.650 on vault to take a .4125 lead over LSU and a .60 lead over UCLA.

The Bruins finished with a 49.4250 on uneven bars, closing with another 9.95 by Ross. Flatley contributed another 9.9 score, and Hano and Madison Kocian added 9.8625s, but could not catch LSU for second place, as the Tigers scored 49.525 on floor to secure a runner-up finish.

UCLA's Top 3 finish is its 16th all-time. The Bruins won Pac-12 and NCAA Regional Championships in head coach Valorie Kondos Field's final season.
