Escalas Leads UCLA's 14 Pac-12 All-Academic Honorees

LOS ANGELES โ Fourteen members of the UCLA swimming and diving team were named to the 2018-19 Pac-12 All-Academic Team, it was announced on Tuesday by Commissioner Larry Scott.
Senior Elena Escalas headlined the Bruins' honorees, as she was named to the Second Team.
UCLA had 13 honorable mentions on the Pac-12 All-Academic Team: sophomore Isabella Barattolo, senior Eloise Belanger, sophomore Allison Goldblatt, sophomore Emily Honng, junior Maisie Jameson, junior Lisa Kaunitz, senior Sabrina Kwok, junior Kenisha Liu, senior Maria Polyakova, senior Madeline Russell, senior Traci Shiver, senior Sandra Soe, and sophomore Alice Yanovsky.
For several Bruins, Tuesday wasn't the first time they earned academic honors from the Pac-12. Kaunitz was a Pac-12 All-Academic Second Team choice in 2018, while Escalas, Kwok, Russell, Shiver, and Soe had each earned honorable mentions in both 2017 and 2018.ย Belanger and Liu are both two-time Pac-12 All-Academic honorees after earning honorable mentions in 2018.
To be eligible for selection to the academic team, a student-athlete must have a minimum 3.0 overall grade-point average and participate in at least half of their team's scheduled regular season events.
