Participants for NCAA West Preliminaries Announced

INDIANAPOLIS โ A total of 38 student-athletes from the UCLA track & field team qualified at the NCAA West Regionals, the NCAA Division I Men's and Women's Track & Field and Cross Country Committee announced on Thursday.

The 10 UCLA women's participants include: Meleni Rodney, Erika Adler, Christina Rice, Tarika Moses, Suzie Acolatse, Schuyler Moore, Elleyse Garrett, Alyssa Wilson, Ashlie Blake and Ilaria Casarotto. The UCLA women are set to compete in 10 events.

On the men's side, the Bruins garnered 28 qualifiers in this year's regionals. Those participants include Leon Powell, Myles Webb, Joe Herrera, Cameron Stone, Riley Kelly, Arturo Sotomayor, Chris Morzenti, Tyler Janes, Robert Brandt, Garrett Reynolds, Colin Burke, Harrison Schrage, Kenroy Higgins II, Seth Holloway, Isaiah Holmes, Sean Lee, Michael Burke, Sondre Guttormsen, Michael Fancey, Tate Curran, CJ Alumbres, Dotun Ogundeji, Nate Esparza, Otito Ogbonnia, Jacob Wilson, Justin Stafford, Simon Litzell and AK Turner. The Bruins will contend in 17 events.
Christina Chenault has already earned her ticket to the NCAA Championships, which are set to take place June 5-8 in Austin, Texas. She will compete in the heptathlon, where she ranks 19th nationally with a point total of 5,585.ย

The preliminary competitions are scheduled for May 23 - 25. The University of North Florida in Jacksonville, Fla., will host the East Preliminary and California State University, Sacramento in Sacramento, Calif., will host the West Preliminary. The qualifiers out of these two regions will compete in the NCAA Division I Men's and Women's Outdoor Track and Field Championships held June 5-8 in Austin, Texas.
