UCLA Rowing Finishes Fourth at Pac-12 Championships

GOLD RIVER, Calif. – The UCLA women's rowing program finished fourth at the Pac-12 Championships on Sunday morning under cloudy skies on Lake Natoma.
Facing a challenging field that included the nation's top three ranked teams – No. 1 Washington, No. 2 California and No. 3 Stanford – the Bruins registered a fifth-place finish in the varsity eight race before recording a fourth-place finish in the Pac-12's second varsity eight race.
"We are really, really proud of this team" UCLA head coach Amy Fuller Kearney said. "They've been so strong and gone through so much this year that it feels great to get to watch them finally get to show what they can do."
UCLA's varsity eight crew (V8+) clocked in with a time of 6:27.151, racing ahead of No. 19 Oregon State (6:32.211) and Washington State (6:34.644). The Bruins finished less than three seconds behind No. 13 USC (6:24.901), while California, Stanford and Washington took the top three spots in that race, respectively.
The Bruins' second varsity eight boat (2V8+) recorded a final time of 7:24.183, crossing the finish line ahead of Washington State (7:27.930), No. 19 Oregon State (7:31.383) and No. 13 USC (7:34.110). UCLA crossed the finish line less than six seconds behind No. 2 California (7:18.873), while Washington and Stanford finished first and second, respectively.
UCLA's varsity four crew registered a fifth-place finish, while the third varsity eight finished sixth. The V4+ crew clocked in with a final time of 7:55.465, finishing behind Washington (7:26.553), Stanford (7:34.887), California (7:49.360) and Oregon State (7:51.673).
The Bruins' novice eight crew recorded a third-place finish out of four crews in UCLA's final race of the day (with a time of 6:46.072).
