UCLA Honors Top Scholar-Athletes for 2019

LOS ANGELES - UCLA's top scholar-athletes were honored for their outstanding academic achievements at the 13th Annual UCLA Scholar-Athlete Banquet on May 20. Men's soccer player Tobias Henneke and rower Lanea Tuiasosopo received top honors as the Scholar-Athletes of the Year, which are awarded to the male and female graduating senior with the highest cumulative GPA.

Other finalists for the Scholar-Athlete of the Year Awards were Micah Ma'a (men's volleyball), Blayne Martinez (men's soccer), Cole Martinez (men's soccer), Julia Hernandez (women's soccer), Megan McNamara (beach volleyball), and Nicole McNamara.

The Scholar-Athlete Banquet was made possible by an endowment by the late Rose Gilbert.

Awarded to student-athletes who were confronted with significant obstacles outside the classroom, met their challenge with courage, strength and resiliency and were able to successfully overcome the challenge while still excelling academically

Bruin Leadership Award
Awarded to student-athletes who have gone above and beyond the call of duty to make a significant impact on the UCLA student-athlete experience by demonstrating outstanding service to others and within the community
