UCLA Finalizes Non-Conference Men's Hoops Schedule

June 19, 2019 | Men's Basketball

LOS ANGELES – The UCLA men's basketball team will play 13 non-conference games next season, including the program's sixth appearance in the Maui Jim Maui Invitational in November.

After having hosted Notre Dame in Pauley Pavilion presented by Wescom last season, the Bruins will play at Notre Dame on Dec. 14. Other key non-conference showdowns include a home contest against UNLV (Nov. 15) and a neutral-site game in Las Vegas against North Carolina (Dec. 21).

"Scheduling is a critical part of building a program and helping to establish our identity," said Mick Cronin, the Michael Price Family UCLA Men's Head Basketball Coach. "We want to put our young men in a position to succeed while also bolstering our resume for the NCAA Tournament. It's important that we challenge ourselves before we get to Pac-12 play, and I believe this schedule will certainly help us do that."

UCLA's regular-season schedule kicks off against Long Beach State (Nov. 6), opening a five-game homestand that also features UC Santa Barbara (Nov. 10), UNLV (Nov. 15), Southern Utah (Nov. 18) and Hofstra (Nov. 21).

After playing three games in three days at the Maui Jim Maui Invitational (Nov. 25-27), UCLA will host San Jose State (Dec. 1) and Denver (Dec. 8) on consecutive Sundays.

The Bruins will travel to face Notre Dame on Saturday, Dec. 14, before taking on North Carolina in the annual CBS Sports Classic on Saturday, Dec. 21. UCLA's game against UNC will take place at T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas. The Bruins will conclude the non-conference portion of their schedule against Cal State Fullerton (Dec. 28).

The complete bracket for the eight-team Maui Jim Maui Invitational has not been finalized. The other seven teams in the field at the Maui Invitational include BYU, Chaminade, Dayton, Georgia, Kansas, Michigan State and Virginia Tech. Looking at the entirety of UCLA's non-conference schedule, the Bruins could play as many as four teams that advanced to the 2019 NCAA Tournament.

UCLA will host one exhibition game against Stanislaus State on Wednesday, Oct. 30, one week in advance of the team's regular-season opener versus Long Beach State.

The Bruins' complete schedule, including all game times, will be finalized in September.
