HONOLULU -ย Senior Savvy Simo recorded her second double-double in a row with a career-high 15 kills to go with 11 digs, while junior Mac May notched her first double-double of the season with 16 kills and 13 digs, as the Bruins won their fourth in a row with a sweep of Utah Valley on Thursday at the Stan Sheriff Center. Set scores were 25-15, 25-20, 25-19.

Sophomore Devon Chang had 18 assists and seven digs and sophomore Hawley Harrer posted 18 assists, six digs and three kills, as the two set the Bruins (4-2) to a .279 hitting percentage. Sophomore Kelli Barry added 11 digs and six assists, redshirt sophomore Emily Ryan had five kills and five blocks, junior Jenny Mosser notched five kills and redshirt freshman Tristin Savage tallied four kills.

The first set was even at nine until the Bruins scored 16 of the last 22 to win the opener. Three in a row on kills by Simo and Harrer and a Utah Valley (2-6) attack error made it 12-9. After a sideout, five straight Bruin points on kills by Savage, May, Ryan and Harrer and a Ryan/Harrer block upped the lead to 17-10. Following another sideout, a service error, Ryan and Mosser kills, a Mosser/Ryan block and a Simo/Ryan roof as part of a 5-1 run brought the lead for the first time to 10, which would be the final margin at 25-15. Simo paced the Bruins with five kills to go with three digs, while five other players had two kills. Barry added five digs and Chang posted four. The Bruins out-hit the Wolverines, .357 to .097.

In set two, the Bruins trailed by two at 13-11 before making their run. Six in a row on two Mosser kills, one by Simo and three Utah Valley errors brought the lead to 17-13. At 19-17, three in a row on a May kill and two UVU errors increased the lead to five, which equaled the final margin in a 25-20 win. May recorded six kills and seven digs in the second set, while Simo had four kills and six digs. The Bruins out-hit the Wolverines, .233 to .100.

The only deficit for the Bruins in set three was at 1-0. Up 4-3, a 7-2 UCLA run on four Simo kills, a May kill, a Chang ace and a Utah Valley error made it 11-5. Six would be the Bruins' largest lead on several occasions and would also be the final margin of victory in a 25-19 win. May had eight kills and five digs in the third and Simo added six kills. The Bruins out-hit the Wolverines, .275 to .240.
