Senior Kyla Ross of the UCLA gymnastics team has been selected the UCLA/Muscle Milk Student-Athlete of the Week for Dec. 30-Jan. 5.
Ross started her senior season with a bang, winning the all-around at the Collegiate Challenge with a score of 39.725 and taking first place on three events - vault, beam and floor. Ross scored 9.9 or better on all four events, including a pair of 9.95s on beam and floor. Her team-high scores on vault and floor helped the Bruins win those two events, and her all-around score was UCLA's highest in a season opener in 16 years. After her week one performance, Ross ranks first in the nation in the all-around and on floor exercise.
This is Ross's first UCLA/Muscle Milk Student-Athlete of the Week award of the season and record-tying ninth of her career.
