MEN'S BASKETBALL
  • The UCLA men's basketball program has 11 former players who are expected to open the NBA season on rosters across the league this week. The NBA will open its regular-season schedule with a pair of contests on Tuesday โ€“ Golden State against Brooklyn (4 p.m., PT) and the Los Angeles Clippers versus the Los Angeles Lakers (7 p.m., PT). Trevor Ariza is set to begin his 17th NBA season with the Oklahoma City Thunder (his 11th NBA team). Other former UCLA standouts with at least 10 seasons in the NBA include Kevin Love (13th season), Russell Westbrook (13th season) and Jrue Holiday (12th season).

FOOTBALL
  • Eli Ankou, DT, Dallas Cowboys - Ankou notched two total tackles as Dallas moved within one game of first place in the NFC East.
  • Krys Barnes, ILB, Green Bay Packers โ€“ Barnes' return to the starting lineup paid dividends, as the rookie posted six total tackles, including one for a loss of six yards, and a forced fumble on his own goal line to shift momentum in the second quarter.
  • Kenny Clark, NT, Green Bay Packers โ€“ Clark totaled four tackles as Green Bay improved to an NFC-best 11-3. The Packers have already clinched the NFC North title.
  • Ka'imi Fairbairn, K, Houston Texans โ€“ Fairbairn converted his only field-goal attempts, from 23 and 31 yards, and drilled both his extra-point tries. He also sent four of four kickoffs into the end zone, with three resulting in touchbacks.
  • Myles Jack, LB, Jacksonville Jaguars โ€“ For the seventh time this season and third game in a row, Jack reached double digits as a tackler. His 10 stops upped his season total past the century mark placed him just two shy of matching his career high of 107, set in 2018. Jack was also responsible for a pass defensed.
  • Joshua Kelley, RB, Los Angeles Chargers โ€“ Kelley registered two carries for eight yards and took on a new role as kick returner, bringing back two kickoffs for 39 yards.
  • Matthew Slater, WR, New England Patriots โ€“ Slater, who did not accumulate any statistics in New England's Week 15 game, was chosen Monday to a record ninth Pro Bowl of his career. No other player has garnered more than seven selections to a special-teams spot.
  • Jacob Tuioti-Mariner, DT, Atlanta Falcons โ€“ Tuioti-Mariner made one tackle to continue a breakout season that has seen him more than double his previous career high for stops.
  • Kenny Young, ILB, Los Angeles Rams โ€“ Young picked up two total tackles, placing him three shy of matching his career high of 51, set in 2018.
  • TE Devin Asiasi (New England Patriots, DE Matt Dickerson (Tennessee Titans), OT Andre James (Las Vegas Raiders), TE Marcedes Lewis (Green Bay Packers), OT Conor McDermott (New York Jets), OT Kolton Miller (Las Vegas Raiders), CB Fabian Moreau (Washington Football Team), C Scott Quessenberry (Los Angeles Chargers) and OG Xavier Su'a-Filo (Cincinnati Bengals) also played, but did not record any stats.
MEN'S GOLF
  • PGA Tour Latinoamerica โ€“ Manav Shah tied for 17th (-14) at the Puerto Plata Open last week in Puerto Plata, Dominican Republic.
WOMEN'S GOLF
  • Women's All Pro Tour โ€“ In the final event of the 2020 season, Lilia Vu tied for fifth at the Kingwood Forest Classic in Kingwood, Texas. Beth Wu tied for 12th and Mariel Galdiano tied for 14th.

  • Reggie Cannon, D, Boavista FC (Portugal) โ€“ย Started at right back and played the full 90 in a 1-1 draw with Pacos Ferreira in Primeira Liga action. Cannon has started every game for his club since transferring from FC Dallas in September.
  • Earl Edwards Jr., GK โ€“ Signed a free agent deal with the New England Revolution. The Revs are Edwards Jr.'s third MLS club, as he spent the last two seasons with DC United and the first four years of his career with Orlando City SC.
  • Jordan Harvey, D, LAFCย โ€“ Was an unused substitute in LAFC's 3-1 victory over América in the Concacaf Champions League Semi-final on Saturday. LAFC will face another Liga MX side, Tigres, in the Concacaf Champions League Final on Tuesday night at 7:00 p.m. (TV: FSN2).

  • Sam Mewis, MF, Manchester City (England) โ€“ Mewis, who was awarded U.S. Soccer's 2020 Female Player of the Year this week, helped lead Manchester City to the Champions League last-16 after a 3-0 win over Göteborg on Dec. 16. ManCity advanced on aggregate, 5-1. Mewis started and played 72 minutes in the victory.
  • Jessie Fleming, MF, Chelsea FC (England) โ€“ Fleming made her first start for Chelsea on Dec. 16, playing the full 90 in a 3-0 Champions League victory over Benfica. The Blues advanced to the last-16 on aggregate, 8-0.
