Jordan, Faraimo Earn NFCA National Weekly Honors

LOUISVILLE, Ky.ย - Following a 5-0 weekend at the St. Pete Clearwater Elite Invitational, redshirt junior Aaliyah Jordan was named Louisville Slugger/NFCA Player of the Week on Tuesday, while sophomore Megan Faraimo earned Wilson/NFCA Pitcher of the Week accolades.
Jordan, who had eight hits last weekend, saved her best for last, recording a two-run, two-out double in the top of the seventh inning against No. 5 Florida State on Sunday, as UCLA eventually defeated the Seminoles, 3-2. Jordan had hits and RBI in all five Bruin victories, batting .571 (8-for-14) with eight runs batted in, five walks, four doubles, three runs scored and two stolen bases. The redshirtย junior had three RBI, a pair of doubles and two walks earlier on Sunday against USF, as well as two hits and an RBI versus No. 15 Georgia on Saturday.
Jordan leads the team with a .577 batting average, 11 walks, an .846 slugging, seven doubles and a .711 on base percentage, while also ranking tied for second with 14 runs batted in.
Faraimo went the distance in all three of her victories last weekend, striking out 25 in 21 innings. She allowed just three earned runs and three walks. On Friday versus No. 9 Alabama, Faraimo tossed a two-hit shutout, striking out six. A day later, she fanned six more in seven innings against Georgia, giving up two earned runs, six hits and a walk. The sophomore closed out the weekend with 13 strikeouts against Florida State, allowing one earned run and five hits.
Faraimoย is 6-0 on the season, having posted a 0.74 earned run average, six complete games, three shutouts and 58 strikeouts in 38 innings.
Jordan and Faraimo each earned their first NFCAย weekly awards. It is the third year in a row the Bruins have been recognized with anย NFCA National Player of the Week honor (Rachel Garcia, 2018 and 2019), and their 26th all-time. UCLA has won five NFCA National Pitcher of the Week awards (Ally Carda twice in 2015, Garcia twice in 2018).
The Bruins, now ranked No. 1 in all the national polls this week, head to Cathedral City, Calif. for the Mary Nutter Collegiate Classic. Their first matchup is on Friday against Texas A&M at 5:30 p.m.
