NOTRE DAME, IND. – UCLA sent a distance medley relay squad and a pair of milers to the Alex Wilson Invitational at the University of Notre Dame, with the Bruins' contingent coming away with a top-10 program mark and impressive individual performances.
The Bruins' DMR quartet – Arturo Sotomayor, Ismail Turner, Riley Kelly, and Chris Morzenti – combined to finish fifth place overall with a time of 9:32.14, the third-fastest time in UCLA history in the event. This is now the second-straight season UCLA has posted a top-5 program mark in the DMR, as Cameron Stone, Kelly, Carter Blunt, and Sotomayor combined for a time of 9:34.63 in February 2019, now the No. 5 time in program history.
UCLA also had a pair of entries in the men's mile. Senior George Gleason led the way with a time of 4:07.98, good for a second-place finish. Freshman Mason Ratkovich made his first appearance in the mile for the Bruins, finishing in fourth place with a time of 4:10.06. Ratkovich has now competed in five different events (800m, 1000m, mile, 4x400m relay, DMR) in his debut indoor campaign.
