Head coach Michael Sealy has announced the addition of 5-foot-6 libero Zoe Fleck to the UCLA women's volleyball roster. Fleck, a transfer from UC Santa Barbara, will have two years of eligibility remaining.
"Zoe was a huge piece of UC Santa Barbara's playoff run last season," Sealy said. "They had Texas on the ropes and the precision of their offense and ball control was the reason. Zoe attracted attention from top programs when she entered the transfer portal and we were blessed to have her choose UCLA. She adds not only the physical components of a great ball control player, but adds a professionalism that is going to improve our gym on a daily basis."
Fleck accrued 635 digs (3.01 per set) and 47 aces in two seasons at UC Santa Barbara. As a sophomore, Fleck helped the Gauchos to a first-round victory over Texas State in the NCAA Tournament (26 digs) and a near upset of No. 2 Texas in the second round (14). She produced double figures in digs in 21 of 29 matches, averaging 3.97 dps. Fleck had six matches last season with at least 20 digs, setting a season high with 28 against Wyoming. She also had an ace in 19 contests, including five matches with a pair. Fleck averaged 2.04 dps as a freshman in 2018, totaling 10 double-figure digs contests. Her 23 aces came in just 13 matches, as she had three contests with four aces.
