Nine UCLA Gymnasts Earn Scholastic All-America Honors

Nine members of the UCLA Gymnastics team – Felicia Hano, Madison Kocian, Kendal Poston, Kyla Ross, Samantha Sakti, Mercedez Sanchez, Sara Taubman, Macy Toronjo and Pauline Tratz – have earned 2020 Scholastic All-America honors from the Women's Collegiate Gymnastics Association (WCGA).
The WCGA Scholastic All-America team acknowledges gymnasts who carry a 3.5 or higher cumulative grade point average or a 3.5 grade point average for 2019-20.
Kocian received her fourth Scholastic All-America honor. UCLA's Female Scholar-Athlete of the Year and the Pac-12 Gymnastics Scholar-Athlete of the Year graduated in June with a degree in Psychology. The 2016 Olympic gold and silver medalist also earned Pac-12 academic honors three times during her career.
Tratz, a rising senior and communication studies major, receives her third Scholastic All-America award. The Karlsruhe, Germany native is a two-time Pac-12 academic honoree and a member of UCLA's 2019-20 All-Academic team.
A trio of Bruins earned their second consecutive Scholastic All-America awards – Toronjo, a 2020 graduate in history, and rising juniors Sakti and Taubman. Sakti, who received honors last year while competing at William & Mary, is majoring in psychology, and Taubman is a human biology and society major. Poston, a rising senior majoring in economics, returns to the Scholastic All-America list after previously qualifying as a freshman in 2018.
Hano (Political Science), Ross (Molecular, Cell and Developmental Biology) and Sanchez (Psychology) earned their first Scholastic All-America acclaim after their final seasons at UCLA.
The nine Scholastic All-Americans represent the most by a UCLA squad since a school-record 11 Bruins earned honors in 2003.
