MEN'S BASKETBALL
- Kyle Anderson, F, Memphis Grizzlies โ Scored in double figures in Memphis' last two games. Anderson finished with 10 points and eight rebounds in the Grizzlies' victory over Phoenix on Monday night. He has averaged 12.8 points and 7.2 rebounds in 12 games this season.
- Aaron Holiday, G, Indiana Pacers โ Had 16 points and 12 assists in Indiana's win against Golden State last Tuesday. Holiday has averaged 5.9 points and 2.5 assists per game this season with the Pacers.
- Jrue Holiday, G, Milwaukee Bucks โ Averaged 19.7 points in Milwaukee's last three games. He finished with 22 points and six assists in a two-point loss to the Brooklyn Nets on Monday night. Holiday has registered 15.2 points, 5.0 assists and 4.2 rebounds per game with the Bucks this season.
- Zach LaVine, G, Chicago Bulls โ Averaged 26.0 points and 7.7 assists per game in the Bulls' last three contests. He finished with 33 points and seven assists in Chicago's five-point victory against Houston on Monday evening. LaVine has averaged 26.9 points, 5.2 assists and 4.8 rebounds per game with Chicago this season.
- Kevon Looney, F, Golden State Warriors โ Finished with nine rebounds in a loss to Indiana last Tuesday. Through 12 games this season, Looney has averaged 3.7 points and 3.6 rebounds per game with Golden State.
- Norman Powell, G, Toronto Raptors โ Scored in double figures in his last four games with Toronto, including a 17-point effort on Monday night and a 24-point game on Saturday. He connected on 6 of 9 attempts from 3-point range last Saturday in Toronto's win over Charlotte. Powell has averaged 11.7 points and 2.2 rebounds in 12 games with the Raptors this season.
- Krys Barnes, ILB, Green Bay Packers โ The undrafted rookie's season to remember continued in the NFC Divisional Round, as he piled up a team-high 10 tackles and one pass defensed despite missing time with a thumb injury. Green Bay defeated the Rams, 32-18, advancing to the NFC Championship Game.
- Kenny Clark, NT, Green Bay Packers โ Clark keyed the Packers' defensive effort up front, posting three tackles and 1.5 sacks. He registered his solo takedown of quarterback Jared Goff in the fourth quarter as the Rams were trailing by a 25-18 margin.
- Marcedes Lewis, TE, Green Back Packers โ The 15-year veteran, a staple in Green Bay's starting lineup, moved within one game of his first-career Super Bowl. Lewis, Barnes, Clark and the Packers must get past Tampa Bay in the NFC Championship Game, set for a 12:05 p.m., PT start Saturday on FOX.
- Kenny Young, ILB, Los Angeles Rams โ Young tallied four total tackles in the Rams' loss to Green Bay. He logged a career-high 49 tackles and the first touchdown of his career during the regular season.
- PGA TOUR โ The TOUR is in Southern California this week for The American Express in La Quinta, Calif. (Thursday-Sunday). Patrick Cantlay, who is ranked 10th in the world, will be playing.
- PGA TOUR Champions โ The PGA TOUR Champions begins its 2021 season this weekend at the Mitsubishi Electric Championship at Hualalai (Thursday-Saturday) in Ka'upulehu-Kona, Hawaii. Brandt Jobe, Scott McCarron, Corey Pavin, Tom Pernice, Jr. and Ken Tanigawa are in the field.
- European Tour โ The Tour gets the 2021 portion of its schedule underway at the Abu Dhabi HSBC Championship (Thursday-Sunday) in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates. Pedro Figueiredo is in the field.
- LPGA TOUR โ The Tour begins its 2021 campaign at the Diamond Resorts Tournament of Champions (Thursday-Sunday) in Lake Buena Vista, Fla. Bronte Law is in the field.
- Reggie Cannon, D, Boavista FC (Portugal) โย Started at right back and played 62 minutes in a 3-1 loss to Tondela on Jan. 16. Boavista had two players sent off in the game's first half hour, putting them two men down the rest of the way. Cannon has started every league game for Boavista since transferring from FC Dallas in September 2020.
- UCLA alum Chris Henderson was named the Chief Soccer Officer and Sporting Director of Inter Miami CF on Jan. 18. He had spent the last 13 seasons as the Sporting Director for the Seattle Sounders, helping the club to two MLS Cups and four US Open Cups.
- Sam Mewis, MF, Abby Dahlkemper, D โ Mewis recorded her first international hat trick for in the U.S. Women's National Team's 4-0 victory over Colombia on Jan. 18. Mewis scored in the run of play in the fourth and 33rd minutes, then scored her third goal on a penalty kick 11 seconds into the second half. She now has 21 career goals with the USWNT and became its 30th player to score 20 goals. Mewis and Dahlkemper, who are now both at Manchester City FC, started in the friendly.
- Teagan Micah, GK, Melbourne City FC (Australia) โ Micah was named the Player of the Game for the second time this season after making five saves in Melbourne City FC's 3-2 win over Melbourne Victory. Additionally, she earned her second selection to the W-League's Team of the Week.
- Rachel Lowe, MF, Sydney FC (Australia) โ Lowe played 27 minutes for Sydney FC in a 2-0 win over Western Sydney Wanderers on Jan. 16. Sydney FC sits atop the W-League with a 3-0 record.ย
- Jessie Fleming, MF, Chelsea FC (England) โ Fleming did not play in Chelsea's 2-1 win over Manchester United that vaulted Chelsea to a tie for first in the WSL. The win gave Chelsea a league record-tying unbeaten streak of 31 consecutive WSL matches.
- Maxime Cressy advanced to the second singles main draw of his Grand Slam career, completing a run through Australian Open qualifying in Doha, Qatar. He defeated 16th-seeded Go Soeda of Japan, 6-7(3), 6-4, 7-5, Yannick Maden of Germany, 2-6, 6-3, 6-4, and Dustin Brown of Germany, 7-6(5), 6-4, en route to the Feb. 8-21 tournament in Melbourne.
- Ena Shibaharaย and Shuko Aoyama seized the fourth WTA title of their time as partners, picking up five wins over one week at the Abu Dhabi Open. Seeded fifth, Shibahara/Aoyama took down No. 1 Barbora Krejcíková and Hsieh Su-wei, 6-4, 6-1, and never looked back. The semifinal round saw Shibahara and Aoyama defeat Sofia Kenin and Ajla Tomljanovic, 6-4, 6-3, before they bested former college standouts and eighth-seeded Hayley Carter/Luisa Stefani, 7-6(5), 6-4, in the final.
