LOS ANGELES --ย No. 3 UCLA Bruins (12-1, 0-0 MPSF) won every quarter en route to an 18-8 home win over No. 9 San Jose State on Saturday afternoon at Dirks Pool atย Spieker Aquatics Center.

With the win over the Spartans, UCLA improved to 14-1ย in the series history.

Junior Tommy Gruwell and freshman Chase Dodd led the Bruins with a hat trick apiece. A total of nine different Bruins scored with seven of them recording multiple goals. Junior Bernardo Maurizi got the start in the cage and went the distance, recording eight saves while giving up eight goals.

PERIOD ONE
> The Bruins won the opening period, 3-1.
> Jake Cavano (PP - 5:36) and Jack Larsen (4:37) put the Bruins up 2-0.
> Dodd provided the other goal for UCLA in the opening frame (Penalty - 2:43).

PERIOD TWO
> The Bruins won the second period, 4-2, to take a 7-3 lead into the break.
> Four different Bruins scored a goal in the second quarter. Gruwell scored his first on a penalty shot (7:18), followed by a goal from two meters by Felix Brozyna-Vilim (6:36).
> Gianpiero Di Martire scored his first of the game (4:51) and Larsen added his second (2:39).

PERIOD THREE
> The Bruins won the third period 6-2.
> Five different Bruins scored goals in the third, led by two scores from Gruwell (3:16 and 0:16) to complete his hat trick.
> Evan Rosenfeld (7:41) scored his first of the game while Brozyna-Vilim (4:30), Dodd (2:08), and Di Martire (1:02) each scored their second of the contest.

PERIOD FOUR
> The Bruins won the fourth period, 5-3, to provide the 18-8 final.
> Rosenfeld scored his second of the game (5:46) to open the scoring in the final period.
> Dodd completed his hat trick when he converted a penalty shot (4:55).
> The final three goals by the Bruins were all scored at even strength. Cavano netted his second of the game (1:53), followed by the first score of the contest for Tanner Pulice (1:11) and Eli Liechty (0:21).
