Six Bruins Claim 2021 All-MPSF Honors

WOODLAND, Calif.ย โ Six UCLA Bruins earned 2021ย All-MPSFย accolades as announced by the league office this afternoon. UCLA was led by redshirt senior utility Evan Rosenfeld, who was named to the first team for the first time in his career after being named second team in 2018 and again in 2020.
Cutino award winner Nicolas Saveljic and junior attacker Tommy Gruwell were both named to the second team. Saveljic becomes the first Bruin to become a five-time all-league honoree. It marked the third all-league honor for Gruwell, including the second straight year on the second team.
Three Bruins garnered honorable mention All-MPSF honors. The trio consisted of senior attacker/utility Jake Cavano, junior goalkeeper Bernardo Maurizi,ย and redshirt senior center Felix Brozyna-Vilim. It marked the fourth postseason MPSFย honor for Cavanoย and the second each for Maurizi and Brozyna-Vilim.
UCLA head coach Adam Wright has guided the Bruins to a 16-3 recordย and a No. 3 seed at thisย week's MPSFย Championship, hosted by Stanford. Play will begin onย Friday, Nov. 19 at 9:00 a.m. PT with the 5/6 seed game between Penn State Behrend and Austin College. The Bruins will play the loser of that game (or the six seed)ย on Friday at 1:00 p.m. PT. Win that game and the Bruins will face second-seeded USC at 11:15 a.m. PT on Saturday, Nov. 20.
In other league award announcements, California's Kirk Everistย was named MPSFย Coach of the Year and the Golden Bears' junior center Nikolaos Papanikolaouย was named MPSF Player of the Year for the second straight season. California's Roberto Valera was named the MPSF Newcomer of the Year.
