Parker, Brzykcy Receive Pac-12 Honors

February 09, 2021 | Women's Soccer

UCLA's Lucy Parker and Lauren Brzykcy have been awarded Pac-12 weekly honors as the Defender and Goalkeeper of the Week, respectively.

Parker, a senior defender from Cambridge, England, played the full 90 at center back and led No. 4 UCLA to a 3-0 shutout victory at No. 25 Pepperdine. Parker, the only Bruin field player to play the entire game, UCLA's first official game in 429 days, was dominant in the back, holding strong to help UCLA maintain the shutout. With the start, Parker extended her streak to 67 consecutive starts. She has started in every game of her collegiate career.

Brzykcy, a redshirt junior goalkeeper from San Clemente, Calif., earned her first opening day start at Pepperdine and made seven saves in UCLA's 3-0 shutout victory. Brzycky had six second-half saves to keep the clean sheet, and her seven saves overall were one shy of her career-high. The shutout was the fifth of her career, and she improved her career record to 9-3-0.

This is Parker's third career Defensive Player of the Week honor and Brzykcy's first Goalkeeper of the Week award.

The Bruins will face No. 10 BYU on Friday, Feb. 12 at Wallis Annenberg Stadium at 5pm PT.ย
