Bruins Begin Summer League Assignments

UCLA baseball is set to have 29 players participate in various summer baseball leagues around the country this summer, including a significant number of assignments in the Cape Cod League and the MLB-sponsored Appalachian League.
Among the 29 assignments, 20 are currently-rostered players and nine are incoming freshmen. By league, UCLA will send 11 players to the West Coast League (WCL), six players apiece to the Cape Cod and Appalachian Leagues, three to the Northwoods League, two to the New England Collegiate Baseball League (NECBL), and one to the California Collegiate League (CCL).
Several Bruins will serve as teammates this summer.
In the Cape, left-handed pitcher Jake Saum, right-handed pitcher Max Rajcic, and RHP/INF Jack Filby will all play with the Orleans Firebirds while right-hander Charles Harrison and infielder/outfielder Michael Curialle will team up with the Falmouth Falcons.
In the Appalachian ("Appy") League, four Bruins will suit up for the Greenville Flyboys: outfielder Emanuel Dean, catcher Darius Perry, and infielders Daylen Reyes and Kyle Karros. The Appy League is a new wood bat summer collegiate league, played in stadiums that were formerly used in Minor League Baseball rookie leagues from 1963-2020.
Several teams in both the WCL and Northwoods will feature multiple Bruins, including Bellingham (Kenji Pallares, Cody Schrier, Nick McLain, Malakhi Knight, Thatcher Hurd), Mankato (Carson Hamro, Carson Yates), Port Angeles (Jack Holman, Luke Jewett), and Portland (Alonzo Tredwell, Nate Leibold).
Elsewhere, right-hander Jake Brooks will make his Cape Cod debut with the Cotuit Kettleers, infielder Jake Moberg and catcher Tommy Beres will participate in the debut season of the Appalachian League, and righty Nick Nastrini will look to help the Santa Barbara Foresters of the CCL defend their NBC World Series title from last summer.ย
