LOS ANGELES - UCLA Athletics today announced a new "Bruin Academic and Service Achievement" award, providing up to $1,993 to eligible student-athletes during the fall, winter and spring quarters - $5,980 annually. To receive each quarterly award a student-athlete must achieve a mix of academic and personal development goals, such as community service, UCLA Athletics and on-campus development cultural programs, NCAA and Pac-12 leadership events and Equity Diversity and Inclusion training.
"Over the last year, we have seized new opportunities to provide our student-athletes with the best experience in the country. Today, we further build on that foundation supporting our student-athletes for their hard work, service and academic success," said UCLA's Martin Jarmond, the Alice and Nahum Lainer Family Director of Athletics. "With the recent launch of Westwood Ascent, adding Westwood Exchange to our NIL programming and today's award announcement, we continue to lead in supporting our student-athletes in new and exciting ways today and in the future."
Additional new support for student-athletes, UCLA Athletics recently announced the launch of "Westwood Ascent", a comprehensive Name, Image and Likeness (NIL) program designed to support UCLA's student-athletes to build their personal brand and maximize their NIL opportunities. In addition, UCLA Athletics announced in April the launch of Westwood Exchange, a free business registry designed for companies, donors, fans and alumni that want to connect directly with UCLA's student-athletes interested in capitalizing on their name, image and likeness (NIL).
