UCLA quarterback Dorian Thompson-Robinson was named on Tuesday to the official Davey O'Brien QB Class of 2022. That designation makes him eligible to be voted one of 16 semifinalists for the Davey O'Brien National Quarterback Award.
The announcement signals the start of the Davey O'Brien Fan Vote. For the third straight year, voting will take place on the @DaveyOBrien Instagram, Twitter and Facebook accounts. The top five vote-getters on each of the three social media platforms will receive bonus committee votes which will be added to the ballots cast by the National Selection Committee.
To participate in the Fan Vote, fans must like the original post highlighting the quarterback on our official @DaveyOBrien social media channels. Each of the three rounds of the selection process (semifinalist, finalist and winner) will feature the Fan Vote, with vote totals reset prior to each round.
Thompson-Robinson is rated fifth in the nation with a completion percentage of .723 and ranks 10th nationally in passing efficiency at 165.7. With his next start, he will tie Cade McNown (1995-98) for most career starts by a Bruin quarterback with 44. Thompson-Robinson, with 9,512 passing yards sits in third on the all-time school list and will now take aim at No. 2 Brett Hundley, who threw for 9,966 yards in his Bruin career. DTR is the all-time school leader with 78 career touchdown passes.
The No. 10 Bruins will travel to play at Arizona State on Saturday at 7:30 p.m. PT in a game to be televised by FS1.
