Charbonnet Named Semifinalist for Walter Camp POY Award

UCLA running back Zach Charbonnet has been named a "Player to Watch" for The Walter Camp Football Foundation 2022 Player of the Year. The Award is the fourth-oldest college football award in the nation.

The 22-player watch list includes nine quarterbacks, five running backs, four wide receiver/tight ends and three defensive players. Sixteen different schools and seven conferences (including independents) are represented on the list.

Charbonnet leads the nation in all-purpose yardage (176.88) and in yards per carry average (7.53). He has rushed for at least one touchdown in each of the past 10 Pac-12 games he has played in. Charbonnet is third in the nation, and first in the Pac-12, with a per game rushing average of 143.1 yards. He has run for at least 100 yards in each of the past eight Pac-12 games he has played in. While compiling 181 yards last week against Arizona, Charbonnet surpassed the 1,000-yard rushing mark for the second straight season to become the ninth Bruin player to do so.

The Walter Camp Player of the year is voted on by the 131 Football Bowl Subdivision (FBS) head coaches and sports information directors. A list of five finalists will be announced on Nov. 30 and the winner will be announced Dec. 8 on the Home Depot ESPNย College Football Awards Show. ย
