November 06, 2022 | Gymnastics
Chiles, performing an enhanced version of her 2022 NCAA floor exercise routine, took the lead on floor after five competitors, hitting her 1.5 to full-in, a full-twisting double layout and front layout to double tuck. She maintained the lead until the very last competitor, Great Britain's Jessica Gadirova, outscored her with a 14.200.
On vault on Saturday, Chiles led briefly after scoring 14.50 on her first vault, a Yurchenko double full, and 14.20 on a nearly stuck Lopez. Her U.S. teammate Jade Carey was next to compete and surpassed her with a 14.733 on a Cheng and a 14.30 on a Yurchenko double full for a meet-winning average of 14.516. Carey's difficulty scores were 0.8 higher than Chiles', but Chiles' execution scores of 9.5 on the Yurchenko double full and 9.4 on the Lopez were the two highest of the competition.
