Selena Harris will make her collegiate debut in her hometown of Las Vegas
Gymnastics to Open Season Jan. 7 at Super 16 in Las Vegas

The UCLA Gymnastics team will open the 2023 season at the inaugural Super 16 presented by Ozone, which will take place Jan. 6-7 at the Orleans Arena in Las Vegas. The two-day, four-session, 16-team competition is the largest regular season women's collegiate invitational, featuring over 300 gymnasts.
The Super 16's schedule is:ย Friday, Jan. 6 โ 2 p.m. and 8 p.m. PT; and Saturday, Jan. 7 โ 12 p.m. and 6 p.m. PT. Times are subject to change. Session groupings will be announced soon. UCLA will compete on Saturday, Jan. 7, along with Arizona State, Auburn, BYU, California, Iowa, Michigan and Oklahoma. Competing on Friday, Jan. 6 will be Fisk, Georgia, North Carolina, Oregon State, Rutgers, Southern Utah, Stanford and Washington. Team, all-around and event champions will be crowned after each session.
The Super 16 will mark the first meet for the Bruins under first-year head coach Janelle McDonald, who came to UCLA after four successful years as an assistant coach at California. The meet is also the collegiate debut of freshman Selena Harris, rated by College Gym News as the No. 1 recruit in the 2023 freshman class. Harris, who trained at GymCats, will debut in her hometown of Las Vegas.
Three Olympic medalists will be competing in the Super 16 - UCLA's Jordan Chiles (team silver), Auburn's Suni Lee (all-around gold, team silver) and Oregon State's Jade Carey (floor gold). Chiles and Carey also won multiple medals at the recent World Championships, with Chiles bringing back team gold and vault and floor silver medals, and Carey winning team and vault gold and floor bronze medals.
The last six NCAA champions are in the field โ Oklahoma (2022, 2019, 2017, 2016), Michigan (2021) and UCLA (2018), along with first-year program Fisk University, the first Historically Black College or University to field a women's collegiate gymnastics team.
All-session tickets are on sale to the public now and range from $79 to $291, plus fees. Tickets may be purchased online through the Orleans Arena website.
