Jaquez Jr. Honored as Pac-12 Player of the Week

SAN FRANCISCO – UCLA guard/forward Jaime Jaquez Jr. has been honored as the Pac-12 Player of the Week for the first time this season and second time in his career, as announced on Monday by the Pac-12 Conference office.
Jaquez Jr. averaged 16.5 points, 9.5 rebound and 4.0 steals in UCLA's wins against No. 20 Maryland (in College Park, Md.) and versus No. 13 Kentucky (in New York City) last week. He shot 45.5 percent from the field through both games and added four assists.
Jaquez Jr. had been named as the league's Player of the Week after the final week of the regular season in 2021-22 (March 7, 2022). This marks the first time this season in which any of UCLA's players have earned the conference's player of the week award. Amari Bailey and Dylan Andrews have been recently honored as the Pac-12 Freshman of the Week.
The Bruins (10-2) have won their last seven games, including two wins away from home last week. UCLA took down No. 20-ranked Maryland on Wednesday night, 87-60, at the XFINITY Center. Three days later, the Bruins defeated No. 13-ranked Kentucky at Madison Square Garden in New York, 63-53.
Jaquez Jr. had 14 points, seven rebounds and four steals in the win at Maryland. He finished Saturday's victory against Kentucky with 19 points and 12 rebounds, logging his first double-double of the season (and the 10th of his career). He also had four steals in the win against Kentucky.
Jaquez Jr. continues to lead UCLA's team in scoring (17.3 points per game). He ranks third among all Pac-12 player in scoring average.
UCLA has entered the week ranked No. 13 in the Associated Press (AP) poll and No. 9 in the USA Today Sports Coaches poll. The Bruins will host UC Davis (7-4) this Wednesday afternoon at 2 p.m. (PT) in Pauley Pavilion presented by Wescom. UCLA's game against the Aggies will be televised by the Pac-12 Network.
