December 20, 2022 | Football
UCLA wide receiver Jake Bobo has been voted to the first team of the 2022 Academic All-America® football team selected by the College Sports Communicators which was released on Tuesday. The CSC Academic All-America® Team recognizes the nation's top student-athletes for their combined performances on the field and in the classroom. Each student-athlete must attain a 3.5 cumulative grade point average or higher to be eligible for the award honors.
Bobo, a grad transfer to UCLA from Duke, posted a 3.54 undergraduate GPA as an economics major as a Blue Devil and has earned a 3.86 mark while a Bruin where he is enrolled in the graduate program in Transformative Coaching and Leadership.
Bobo is the leading receiver on the UCLA team this season. He has made 54 catches for a team-best 789 yards. Bobo's total of seven touchdown receptions this season is tied for sixth in the Pac-12. He ended the regular season 10th in the Pac-12 in both yards per game (65.75) and receiving yards. Bobo caught a season-high eight passes at Oregon, adding 101 receiving yards and a touchdown. It was his second 100-yard game of this season (also Washington-142 yards). He had two scoring receptions in wins against both Utah and Washington.
The Duke transfer is a past honoree on the Academic All-ACC (Atlantic Coast Conference) squad and as a CoSIDA All-District selection. He is the first Bruin football player to earn first-team Academic All-America honors since offensive lineman Chris Joseph did so following the 2007 and 2006 seasons.
No. 18 UCLA will square off against Pittsburgh on Friday, Dec. 30 in the Tony the Tiger Sun Bowl in El Paso in a game to be televised on CBS beginning at 11 a.m. PT.
