Flatley Chiles Earn All-America Honors at NCAA Championships

April 14, 2022 | Gymnastics

Fort Worth, Texas – UCLA's Norah Flatley and Jordan Chiles concluded the 2022 season with big individual performances at the NCAA Championships, each earning All-America honors. Flatley earned first-team honors on balance beam and second-team in the all-around, while Chiles received second-team All-America honors on floor exercise.

Flatley finished her Bruin career with a seventh-place finish overall in the all-around with a score of 39.600. She recorded scores of 9.8875 on each of her first three events and finished her meet with a 9.9375 on balance beam, receiving a 10.0 from one of the six judges. On floor exercise in rotation one, she nailed both of her E passes, a huge opening triple full and a front double full second pass. She moved to vault in the second rotation and stuck her Yurchenko layout full. On uneven bars, she received another 9.8875, ending with a nice double layout dismount.

Chiles was spectacular on floor exercise, throwing two new E skills – a full-twisting double layout and a front full through to a double tuck. She closed with a double pike and earned a score of 9.925 that was good for seventh place in the session and 14th overall. The freshman rebounded nicely after a fall on uneven bars in rotation one on her piked Tkatchev. After remounting, she hit her Pak salto and Maloney to Gienger and stuck her full-twisting double back dismount to score 9.3375.
