Bruin Women Secure Pac-12 4x400m Relay Title

Eugene, Ore. โ UCLA's women's 4x400m relay squad finished up the Pac-12 Championships in style, taking home the title to cap a three-day weekend at the Conference Meet at Hayward Field.

The quartet of Catherine Leger, Kate Jendrezak, Makenzy Pierre-Webster, and Shae Anderson combined for a winning time of 3:31.49, which was a second faster than the nearest challenger, USC.

The Bruin men were also impressive in the 4x4, surging from the middle of the pack to secure a second-place finish by just 14 one-hundredths of a second. Myles Misener-Daley, Seth Holloway, Ismail Turner, and Cameron Reynolds finished with a time of 3:03.53, a season-best effort and the ninth-fastest time in program history. It's the fastest time since for the program since 1999.

Reynolds and Turner both split sub-45 on their respective legs in the 4x4 following strong performances in the individual 400m. Reynolds went 45.47 for a lifetime-best time and second place overall, while Turner was third at 45.65. Anderson was second in the women's competition with a time of 51.43 and Jendrezak notched a PR-time of 53.43 for eighth place and a point for the Bruins.

Leger, Pierre-Webster, Maddy Doane, and Anderson combined for a time of 43.77 in the 4x100m relay, good for a podium spot in third place and the eighth-fastest time in program history.

Lyvante Su'emai posted a strong performance in the discus in her first Pac-12 Meet, finishing fourth overall with a mark of 54.65 (179-3) on her fifth attempt of the day.

Matthew DeRoos picked up three points for the Bruins with a lifetime-best effort in the triple jump, going 15.33m (50-03.50). Aaron Kim was UCLA's top finisher in the men's high jump, clearing 2.05m (6-08.75) on his second attempt at the height. Amber Jackson made her Pac-12 Championships debut in the high jump, clearing 1.71m (5-07.25) for a tie for fifth place overall and 3.5 points for the Bruin women.

The UCLA women finished sixth overall in the team standings with 66.5 points for the weekend. The Bruin men were seventh overall with 68 points.

UCLA is set to continue its postseason campaign at the NCAA West Prelims in Fayetteville, Ark. The four-day meet will open on Wednesday, May 25, with NCAA qualification for individual events and relays on the line.
