
UCLA Athletics Mourns the Loss of Jalen Hill

Former UCLA men's basketball student-athlete Jalen Hill has passed away, his family wrote in an Instagram post on Tuesday, Sept. 20.

"The news of Jalen Hill's passing is heartbreaking," said Mick Cronin, The Michael Price Family UCLA Men's Head Basketball Coach. "Our thoughts and prayers are with his family at this time. Jalen was a warm-hearted young man with a great smile who has left us far too soon."

Hill, 22, excelled as a 6-foot-10 forward/center. He enrolled at UCLA in the summer of 2017 and spent four years in the men's basketball program. He played in 77 games (40 starts) through three seasons on the court, averaging 6.5 points, 6.4 rebounds and 0.8 blocks per game.

As a redshirt sophomore in 2019-20, Hill was recognized as an honorable mention Pac-12 All-Defensive Team selection. He finished that season with averages of 9.0 points, 6.9 rebounds and 1.1 blocks in 30 contests (25 starts).
