LOS ANGELES – The No. 9-ranked UCLA men's basketball team rode a hot first half to a 70-61 win over Washington on Thursday night at Pauley Pavilion presented by Wescom.
 
The Bruins (18-4, 9-2 Pac-12) never trailed in the contest, scoring the first eight points of the game and later going on a 12-0 run to build a commanding 26-8 lead by the 7:14 mark of the first half.
 
UCLA ultimately went into the locker room with a 38-22 halftime lead, and held the Huskies (13-11, 5-8) at bay in the second half to seal the win.
 
The victory marked UCLA's 20th consecutive win at Pauley Pavilion, the longest active home winning streak in the country.

Four Bruins finished in double figures on Thursday, led by a 15-point, 10-rebound double-double from senior guard/forward Jaime Jaquez Jr. With his 10 boards, Jaquez Jr. reached 700 total rebounds for his career, moving to No. 19 all-time in UCLA program history. The double-double was the fourth of the season and 13th of his career for Jaquez Jr.
 
Freshman guard Amari Bailey posted 13 points for the Bruins on 6-for-9 shooting, while redshirt senior guard Tyger Campbell chipped in 11 points and a team-high five assists. Freshman forward Adem Bona (10 points, eight rebounds) and junior guard Jaylen Clark (nine points, seven rebounds) also had productive nights on both ends of the floor.
 
The Bruins controlled the game from the very start, as Clark hauled in the opening tip-off on the offensive half of the court and put in an unopposed lay-up just five seconds into the contest.
 
That basket started a game-opening 8-0 run for UCLA, with Clark contributing a jumper from just inside the three-point line before Bailey put in consecutive baskets from inside the paint to cap the run.
 
The Bruins pulled away with a big run midway through the first, scoring 12 unanswered points to push the lead to 18 with under eight minutes left in the half. Bona had the top moment of that spree, coming up with a two-hand block of a lay-up attempt on the defensive end before steaking down the floor and throwing down a dunk in transition off a feed from Bailey at 7:47. Five separate Bruins scored during that run, led by four points from Bona.
 
UCLA's lead would remain in double digits until a 5-0 run from Washington capped by a 3-pointer from PJ Fuller II made it a 54-45 game with 8:14 remaining in the second half. The Huskies hung around, but it remained a two-plus-possession game for the rest of the night. Washington ultimately trimmed the lead to just six, but not until there were 33 seconds left in the contest. Fifth-year guard David Singleton (nine points) hit a trio of free throws in garbage time to finalize the night's scoring.
 
Washington was led by forward Keion Brooks Jr., who posted a game-high 23 points on 9-for-17 shooting. He was one of four Huskies to finish in double figures.
 
For the game, UCLA had sizable advantages in rebounding (36-23) and points in the paint (34-24). The Bruins also had four blocks as a team – two apiece for Bona and Bailey – compared to just one for Washington.
 
UCLA returns to action at home against Washington State on Saturday, Feb. 4. Game time is 4 p.m (PT). The Bruins' home contest will be televised on the Pac-12 Network.
