INDIANAPOLIS – The UCLA men's tennis team earned a spot in the NCAA Division I Championship draw Monday and begins play at the Lexington, Ky. regional, the NCAA Division I Men's Tennis Subcommittee announced.

The Bruins (12-10, 3-5 Pac-12) take on Northwestern (20-9, 7-2 Big Ten) in Friday's opener at the Hilary J. Boone Tennis Complex, with first serve scheduled for 7 a.m. PT. Host and No. 4-seed Kentucky (24-4, 9-3 SEC) meets Presbyterian (16-9, 4-1 Big South) at 10 a.m. PT. Saturday's second-round contest begins at 10 a.m. PT.

UCLA and Northwestern have split two postseason decisions in the programs' only meetings. The Bruins suffered a 4-1 first-round loss to the Wildcats at the Texas Tennis Center in the most recent matchup, on May 8, 2021. UCLA took the doubles point in thrilling fashion, but was unable to tally a win in singles action. Northwestern triumphed in five first sets en route to four straight-set victories.

The winner of each site advances to super-regional competition May 12 or 13. Each super-regional site will feature two teams playing a single-elimination format. The super-regional winners advance to the USTA National Campus in Orlando, Florida, where the eight teams will compete for the national championship May 18-20. This year's event will be conducted jointly with the NCAA Divisions II and III Men's and Women's Tennis Championships and hosted by the University of Central Florida and the Greater Orlando Sports Commission.
