LOS ANGELES – UCLA senior Tommy Silva has been named to the 2023 NCAA Division I Players to Watch list for defenders, it was announced on Tuesday by United Soccer Coaches.

Silva was one of just 24 players nationwide tabbed to the list.

The Tucson, Ariz. native has earned All-Pac-12 honors in each of the past two seasons, and earned First Team Academic All-America honors as a junior in 2022.

Last season, Silva paced the Bruins in assists (eight) while being selected to a national Team of the Week on two separate occasions. On the defensive end, he helped the Bruins limit their opponents to one goal or fewer in 10 consecutive games from Sept. 15 to Oct. 29, the program's longest streak in nearly 20 years.

Silva scored a career-high six goals in the fall 2021 season, which co-led the team and ranked fourth in the Pac-12 Conference. He notched two goals and three assists for seven points as a true freshman during the spring 2021 campaign, including a golden goal to defeat California in the team's season finale.

For his career, Silva has totaled nine goals and 15 assists for 33 points over 51 games (50 starts).
