Bona Named Pac-12 Freshman of the Week

SAN FRANCISCO – UCLA forward Adem Bona has earned Pac-12 Freshman of the Week honors for the second consecutive week, as announced on Monday by the Pac-12 Conference office.

Bona and UCLA classmate Amari Bailey have twice been honored this season as the Pac-12 Freshman of the Week. Fellow freshman Dylan Andrews has also earned the award once.

Bona, a 6-foot-10 forward from Ebonyi, Nigeria, totaled eight points and a team-leading 10 rebounds in the Bruins' 60-58 win against USC in a Pac-12 contest last Thursday evening in Pauley Pavilion presented by Wescom. He has averaged 8.0 points and 4.9 rebounds in 15 contests for the Bruins this season.

UCLA edged crosstown rival USC, 60-58, on Thursday, Jan. 5, as the Bruins extended their winning streak to a season-best 11 consecutive games.

The Bruins (14-2, 5-0 Pac-12) are ranked No. 7 in this week's Associated Press poll and No. 6 in the USA Today Sports coaches poll, as announced on Monday morning.

UCLA will return to action at home this week against Utah and Colorado. The Bruins' game this Thursday against Utah will begin at 8 p.m. (PT). UCLA will take on Colorado on Saturday, Jan. 14. Game time is 5 p.m. (PT).
