Latu Named Quarterfinalist for Lott IMPACT Trophy

NEWPORT BEACH, CA. – On Friday, The Pacific Club IMPACT® Foundation named UCLA's Laiatu Latu as one of 16 Quarterfinalists for the 2023 Lott IMPACT® Trophy.
 
The Lott IMPACT® Trophy is awarded annually to the student-athlete who best exhibits the characteristics of Ronnie Lott by making an IMPACT® on and off the field. IMPACT® is an acronym for Integrity, Maturity, Performance, Academics, Community and Tenacity. This year's presentation of the Lott IMPACT® Trophy will be the 20th in the award's history.
 
Latu ranks sixth in the nation in sacks this season with a 1.0 per game average. He also rates sixth nationally in tackles for loss per game average at 1.9. Latu tied his career-high with three sacks against Coastal Carolina and forced a fumble. He has been credited with at least one sack in 10 of his 17 games as a Bruin. Latu recorded his first career interception against North Carolina Central.
 
Semi-finalists will be chosen in late November and four finalists in December. The four finalists will be invited to attend the annual Lott IMPACT® Trophy award show, December 10, 2023, in Newport Beach, California. Joel Klatt from Fox Sports will emcee the event.
 
The 2023 Lott IMPACT® Trophy Quarterfinalists include seven defensive linemen, six linebackers, and four defensive backs.
