McMahon Wins Third-Straight Pac-12 Defensive Player of Week Award
October 02, 2023 | Women's Soccer
For the third consecutive week, junior Quincy McMahon has been named the Pac-12 Women's Soccer Defensive Player of the Week.
McMahon (Carmel, Ind.) helped lead UCLA to a pair of road victories in Washington, including a 2-0 shutout win at No. 23 Washington State during which she recorded an assist, her third of the season. McMahon and the Bruin defense limited both Washington and Washington State to single-digit shot totals, a feat they have accomplished in nine of the team's 10 games. The Bruin defense has recorded six shutouts this season.
This is the McMahon's third award this season and fourth in her career. She and Ryan Campbell from Stanford, who was named the Pac-12 Goalkeeper of the Week, have each won three consecutive awards. They are two of only three players in Pac-12 history to win in three straight weeks, with McMahon becoming the first-ever to do so from the defensive side. McMahon is also just the second player ever to win three Pac-12 Defensive Player of the Week awards in one season, joining California's Emily Smith (2019).
