Top-Ranked UCLA Earns No. 1 Seed, At-Large Selection

INDIANAPOLIS โ The UCLA men's water polo team (24-2) has earned an at-large bid into the 2023ย NCAA Men's Water Polo Championship and was seeded first, placing the Bruins in the first quarterfinal game as announced by theย NCAA Men's Water Polo Committee lateย Sunday night via press release.
The eight teams vying for the National Collegiate Men's Water Polo Championship will be in competition Dec. 1-3 at USC's Uytengsuย Aquatics Center.ย California, the two-time defending NCAA Champions, received the No. 2 seed and USC, the 2023 MPSF Championship squad is seeded third.ย UCLA will be seeking its 13thย NCAA title in the sport and the school's 122nd overall.
The top four seeds were placed in the bracket with Princeton earning the No. 4 seed.
In the first quarterfinal game, the Bruins will take on Biola (21-12) on Friday, Dec. 1 at Noon. The second game will take place at 2:00 p.m. and will feature No. 4 Princeton (27-5) against UC Irvine (17-9). The third quarterfinal at 4:00 p.m. will pit No. 2 California (19-5) against Fordham (24-7). The last quarterfinal, slated for 6:00 p.m. will be the hosts, No. 3 USC against San Jose State (12-9).

The semifinals will take place on Saturday, Dec. 2 at 2:00 p.m. and 4:00 p.m. The NCAA Championship will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Sunday, Dec. 3 live on ESPNU.
Six teams earned automatic selections to this year's NCAA Championships by winning their respective conference tournaments. They includeย USC (Mountain Pacific Sports Federation), San Jose State (West Coast Conference), Princeton (Northeast Water Polo Conference), Fordham (Collegiate Water Polo Association), UC Irvine (Big West Conference), and Biola (Western Water Polo Association).ย The remaining two teams were selected at-large without geographical restrictions.
