November 21, 2023 | Men's Soccer
LOS ANGELES – Cam Wilkerson and Tommy Silva of the UCLA men's soccer team have been selected to the 2023 College Sports Communicators Academic All-District Team. The honorees are recognized by the College Sports Communicators for their combined performances on the field and in the classroom.
Senior defender Tommy Silva was selected for the third consecutive year while sophomore midfielder Cam Wilkerson earned his first-ever academic all-district honors.
Silva has been a standout on the field and in the classroom ever since arriving on campus. He's been named to the Pac-12 All-Conference Team in all four of his seasons in Westwood, including Second Team honors in each of the last three campaigns, and has qualified for the UCLA Director's Honor Roll each quarter he's been on campus. Silva was also named the Pac-12 men's soccer Scholar-Athlete of the Year back on November 17. Additionally, Silva was men's soccer's representative on last year's UCLA All-Academic Team, as the student-athlete in the program with the highest cumulative GPA. The Tucson, Ariz. native has recorded 43 points (9-23-41) over 69 career games (68 starts) with the Bruins.
Wilkerson meanwhile has been a central figure for the Bruins in midfield in 2023. He netted his first-career goal this season, in a 4-1 win over Virginia Tech in UCLA's season opener. The sophomore finished the season with three goals and an assist over 16 apperances for the Bruins, and finished tied for the third most goals on the squad. Wilkerson has also qualified for the UCLA Director's Honor Roll during his time in Westwood.
Academic All-District® honorees advance to the CSC Academic All-America® ballot. First-, second- and third-team Academic All-America® honorees will be announced in early December.
