
Ally Cook, Quincy McMahon, Neeku Purcell and Lilly Reale
Four Bruins Selected to Academic All-District Women’s Soccer Team

Four Bruin starters – Ally Cook, Quincy McMahon, Neeku Purcell and Lilly Reale – were named to the 2023 Academic All-District® Women's Soccer Team, selected by College Sports Communicators. The award recognizes the nation's top student-athletes for their combined performances on the field and in the classroom.
Cook, a graduate student, earns her second Academic All-District award of her career. As a junior at the University of Oregon in 2021, she earned second-team All-District honors. She also earned Pac-12 Academic Honor Roll distinction twice. On the field, Cook was a three-time All-Pac-12 honoree, receiving first-team acclaim in 2023 after totaling nine goals and 19 points to rank second on the UCLA team. She was also a second-team United Soccer Coaches All-Pacific Region honoree in 2021. In 2022, she assisted on the game-winning goal in the NCAA Championship game, and in 2023 helped UCLA win the Pac-12 title.
McMahon, a junior majoring in Cognitive Science, is a two-time Academic All-District honoree and 2022 Pac-12 Academic Honor Roll member. She helped lead UCLA to the 2022 NCAA Championship and to Pac-12 titles in 2021 and 2023. A two-time first-team All-Pac-12 selection, McMahon made history this season by becoming the first player ever to win Pac-12 Defensive Player of the Week honors four times in one year and three times in a row. She tied for the Pac-12 lead after the 2023 regular season with seven assists and has compiled 20 assists in three years.
Purcell, a sophomore goalkeeper, earns her first academic distinction in her first year of eligibility. She started all 19 games for the Bruins, compiling a 0.65 goals against average with seven solo and four shared shutouts.
Reale, a junior sociology major, is a two-time Academic All-District selection and a member of the 2022 Pac-12 Academic Honor Roll. As a sophomore in 2022, she won the Honda Sport Award after leading UCLA to the NCAA Championship and winning College Cup Most Outstanding Defensive Player distinction. Reale earned All-America honors in 2022 and is a two-time first-team All-Region honoree and three-time first-team All-Pac-12 selection. She is the first player ever to win Pac-12 Defender of the Year honors in back-to-back years.
Academic All-District® honorees are considered for advancement to the CSC Academic All-America® ballot. First-, second- and third-team Academic All-America® honorees will be announced in early December.
