December 19, 2023 | Football

LOS ANGELES – Four members of the UCLA football program – redshirt junior offensive lineman Bruno Fina, redshirt junior kicker Blake Glessner, redshirt sophomore linebacker Carson Schwesinger, and senior tight end Hudson Habermehl – were honored on Tuesday as College Sports Communicators (CSC) announced its 2023 Academic All-District Football teams.

The Academic All-District teams recognize the nation's top student-athletes for their combined performances on the field and in the classroom. Student-athletes must attain a 3.5 cumulative GPA or higher and play in 90% of their team's contests to be eligible for the honor. Fina and Habermehl also advanced to the ballot for Academic All-America honors.

First, second, and third team Academic All-America honorees will be announced on Jan. 23, 2024.

Fina appeared in all 13 games for the Bruins this season, helping the team to averages of 197.9 rushing yards per game and 427.1 yards of total offense per game.

Glessner was the team's primary kickoff man, averaging 62.9 yards per kickoff and seeing 22-of-52 attempts go for a touchback (42%).

Schwesinger played in every game for UCLA this season, recording 12 tackles on the year including a pair of four-tackle performances. This marks the second consecutive Academic All-District honor for Schwesinger, who has also been a UCLA Athletic Director's Honor Roll and Pac-12 Academic Honor Roll recipient.

Habermehl also appeared in all 13 games for UCLA this season, starting nine, while making nine catches for 148 yards and three touchdowns.
