LEXINGTON, Ky. โ€“ Middle blocker Anna Dodson and outside hitter Iman Ndiaye have been named AVCA Pacific South All-Region, it was announced Tuesday morning.
ย
As a result, Dodson and Ndiaye will be considered for first, second or third team AVCA All-American status, which will be announced Dec. 13. This marks Dodson's second career AVCA All-Region honor and the first in Ndiaye's career. Dodson received AVCA Pacific South All-Region Honorable Mention in the 2022 season.
ย
This year, Dodson averaged a team-leading 1.24 blocks per set and finished second on the squad with 131 total blocks in her redshirt senior season. She finished the regular season ranked sixth in the Pac-12 both in blocks per set and total blocks, and fourth in block solos (23). Dodson surpassed her previous season high in blocks set in Fall 2021 by 22 (109.0).
ย
Offensively, Dodson led the Bruins and ranked fifth in the conference with a season-high .374 hitting percentage. She recorded 11 double-digit kill performances, including a career-high 17 kills for a .577 clip in UCLA's upset over then-No. 9 Washington State on the road on Nov. 10. That performance, along with her 13 kills for .545 at Washington on Nov. 12, earned Dodson Pac-12 Defensive Player of the Week honors for the first time in her career.
ย
Dodson was UCLA's leading blocker in 13 matches and leading point scorer in six contests. The Fort Collins, Colo. native has one year of eligibility remaining.
ย
Ndiaye led UCLA in several categories: points (441.0), points per set (3.74), kills (375) and kills per set (3.18). All marks were season highs for the Dallas, Texas native. Ndiaye recorded the first five double-doubles of her career in 2023. She put up four of her five career 20-kill performances in her final season in Westwood, including three in the last three weeks of the regular season.
ย
Ndiaye went off for 21 kills at a .314 hitting percentage in UCLA's victory over then-No. 9 Washington State. Nine of those kills came in the Bruins' impressive fifth-set comeback against the Cougars. Ndiaye recorded the two highest point totals of her career in her final two matches as a Bruin with 24.5 points in each contest versus Oregon State on Nov. 22 and then-No. 24 USC on Nov. 24. Her 21 kills for a .313 clip led UCLA in the win over its crosstown rival.
ย
Ndiaye also established season highs in total blocks (87.0) and digs (220). She more than quadrupled her former season high in digs of 51 set in 2022. Ndiaye, who entered the year averaging 0.42 digs per set in her previous three seasons, averaged 1.86 digs per set in 2023.
