Eight UCLA Teams Post 100% Graduation Success Rate
December 06, 2023 | Bruin Athletics
Eight UCLA teams โ baseball, women's basketball, beach volleyball, rowing, women's golf, gymnastics, swimming & diving and women's tennis โ recorded a Graduation Success Rate (GSR) of 100 percent. The 2023 GSR cohort is based on scholarship student-athletes who entered college as freshmen or transfers in the 2013-14 through 2016-17 classes.
ย
Seven of the eight teams have sustained 100 percent graduation rates for multiple years, while the eighth โ beach volleyball โ earned it in its first eligible season. This is the 11th consecutive year for women's basketball, 10th for women's tennis, ninth for women's golf, sixth for gymnastics, fifth for rowing and fourth for swimming & diving.
ย
Fifteen of UCLA's 21 programs had a GSR of 90 percent or higher. UCLA has 25 teams, but for this report, cross country, indoor track and field and outdoor track and field are counted as one sport. UCLA Athletics' overall GSR improved to 89%.
ย
The GSR is the NCAA's more comprehensive calculation of student-athlete academic success. The NCAA rate is more accurate than the federally-mandated methodology because it is more inclusive of the total student-athlete population. The GSR includes incoming transfers and students enrolling in the winter or spring quarters who receive athletics aid. Student-athletes who leave an institution academically and athletically eligible to compete are removed from their respective cohorts.
