December 08, 2023 | Men's Soccer
LOS ANGELES – UCLA redshirt junior midfielder Tucker Lepley was named a Third Team All-American by United Soccer Coaches on Friday morning.
The All-American designation, the first of his career, is the latest in a string of accolades for Lepley. The Charlotte, N.C. native had previously earned First Team All-Far West Region, First Team All-Pac-12 and led the Bruins to a Pac-12 title in 2023.
"We are very pleased to see Tucker recognized at the All-American level," head coach Ryan Jorden said. "He has been hugely influential on the field for our team and as a leader in this soccer program. There are very few collegiate players that can captivate and entertain crowds the way that Tucker can and that is a special quality that we have really enjoyed during his time playing for us."
Lepley was a consistent contributor in all facets of the game this past season, playing and starting in all 18 of UCLA's games in 2023. Lepley finished the campaign with three goals and two assists. He played all 90 minutes in nine of UCLA's contests in 2023, and played at least 75 minutes in 17 of 18 games throughout the season. Lepley also led the Bruins to an unbeaten 6-0-4 mark in Pac-12 play, and helped UCLA earn its first Pac-12 title since 2012. The redshirt junior scored in wins at UC Irvine, vs. California, and at San Diego State. He also earned assists in the Bruins' season opener against Virginia Tech, and notched an assist at UC Irvine. In games Lepley scored or assisted UCLA went 4-0 on the season.
For his career, Lepley has tallied 11 goals and 10 assists across 45 games. The midfielder enjoyed a breakout campaign in his redshirt freshman season in 2021 when he scored five goals and dished out an additional seven assists to lead the team in points with 17. For his efforts, Lepley was named to the Far West All-Region Second Team after the season, earned College Soccer News All-Freshman First Team honors, and was named to the TopDrawerSoccer Freshman Best XI First Team in 2021.
He is the first Bruin to earn All-America honors since Milan Illoski in 2019, and the second to earn All-American honors under head coach Ryan Jorden.
This year's All-Americans will be recognized for their accomplishments at the United Soccer Coaches All-America Ceremony & Reception on Saturday, January, 13, 2024 at the Anaheim Convention Center in Anaheim, California, in conjunction with the United Soccer Coaches Convention.
