Men's Tennis Downed at No. 1 TCU

FORT WORTH, Texas โ The No. 34 UCLA men's tennis team dropped a 7-0 decision to No. 1 TCU Saturday on Bartzen Varsity Courts. The match represented the first of the season outside Los Angeles for the Bruins (6-3). The Horned Frogs improved to 14-0 on the campaign.
The 73rd-ranked duo of Sebastian Gorzny and Pedro Vives took six of seven Court 2 games against Giacomo Revelli and Aadarsh Tripathi to give TCU the advantage in doubles play. The nation's sixth-ranked combination, made up of Horned Frogs Sander Jong and Lui Maxted, clinched the initial point by way of a 6-2 result over Jeffrey Fradkin and Azuma Visaya on Court 3.
Jack Pinnington doubled TCU's lead with a 6-0, 6-0 win versus Azuma Visaya on Court 4. Next to finish was No. 51 Jong, who bested Tripathi by a 6-3, 6-1 margin on Court 3. The decision was sealed when Vives prevailed 6-1, 6-3 opposite Stefan Leustian on Court 6.
No. 14 Fearnley added to the lead when he dealt Patrick Zahraj his first singles loss in seven decisions, 6-2, 6-2 on the top court. No. 19 Luc Fomba got past Revelli in a first-set tiebreaker on Court 2 and ultimately prevailed 7-6(3), 6-3. Tomas Jirousek of the Horned Frogs then prevented a third set on Court 5, dispatching of Gianluca Ballotta by a 6-4, 7-5 score.
UCLA returns to Los Angeles Tennis Center Tuesday for its first of three home matches in five days. The Bruins host No. 53 Yale Tuesday (1 p.m. PT), No. 11 Columbia Thursday (2 p.m.) and No. 30 Oklahoma State Saturday (12 p.m.).
