
UCLA's Jaquez Jr. Secures Second-Team NABC All-America Honors

KANSAS CITY, Mo.ย โ UCLA senior Jaime Jaquez Jr. has been named a second-team All-America selection by the National Association of Basketball Coaches (NABC).

Jaquez Jr. has already secured second-team All-America acclaim this month by the Associated Press (AP) and Sporting News. He was honored as the Pac-12 Player of the Year by the league office last week, becoming UCLA's first such conference player of the year since Kevin Love in 2008.

Jaquez Jr., a three-time All-Pac-12 Team selection, has led the Bruins in scoring (17.3 ppg) and rebounding (8.1 rpg) this season. He has become UCLA's first player to have averaged at least 17 points and eight rebounds in one season since then-freshman Kevin Love recorded single-season averages of 17.5 points and 10.6 rebounds in 2007-08.

A 6-foot-7 guard/forward from Camarillo, Calif., Jaquez Jr. was named the USBWA District IX Player on Tuesday afternoon in addition to earning All-District IX honors from the USBWA and All-District 19 acclaim from the NABC.

Jaquez Jr. has helped lead UCLA to a 29-5 overall record, through 34 games. The Bruins won the Pac-12 Conference's regular-season title with an 18-2 league mark, finishing ahead of Arizona (14-6) and USC (14-6) by four games. The Bruins lost to Arizona, 61-59, last Saturday night in the Pac-12 Tournament championship game in Las Vegas.

The No. 2-seed Bruins (29-5) will return to action this Thursday evening in the NCAA Tournament against No. 15-seed UNC Asheville (27-7). Game time at the Golden 1 Center in Sacramento, Calif., is 7:05 p.m. (PT). UCLA's contest against UNC Asheville will be nationally televised on truTV.
