Bruins Fall to No. 1 South Carolina in Sweet Sixteen

Greenville, S.C. โ UCLA Women's Basketball (27-10, 11-7 Pac-12) dropped its Saturday afternoon matchup against the top-seeded, top-ranked South Carolina Gamecocks in the Sweet Sixteen of the 2023 March Madness Tournament.

Charisma Osborne finished with 14 points, bringing her career total to 1,798. With her final pair of free throws, the senior passed Nikki Blue for ninth on UCLA's all-time scoring list (2002-2006 โ 1,797 points). The shooting guard grabbed seven boards and added a pair of assists in 32 minutes on the court.

The team shot 29.4% from the field, the second lowest output of the season (L, 55-62 vs. Washington State โ Feb. 23: 29.0 FG%). The Bruins held South Carolina to its second-lowest scoring total of the season (58 points at Mississippi State, Jan. 8).

UCLA held South Carolina to 33.3% shooting in the first half, but trailed 15-25 through two. South Carolina shoots 46.7% on the season. The Gamecocks were plus-10 on the boards at the break (24-14 South Carolina); UCLA was shut out on the offensive glass through the first two quarters.
