No. 2 UCLA Splits on Final Day of East Meets West

MANHATTAN BEACH, Calif. -- No. 2 UCLA (22-2) split a pair of duals on Saturday at the East Meets West Invitational at the iconic Manhattan Beach Pier. The Bruins opened the day with a 3-2 defeat to No. 4 Florida State (24-3) and then rebounded in the afternoon with a 3-2 win over No. 11 Georgia State (13-11). The teams from the West (No. 2 UCLA, No. 3 USC, No. 7 LMU, and No. 8 Hawai'i went 11-5 against the teams from the East (No. 4 Florida State, No. 5 LSU, No. 11 Georgia State, No. 16 FIU) during the tournament.
In the first dual against the Florida State Seminoles, the Bruins got off to a strong start and led 2-0 after the first wave of competition on courts two and four. But FSU rallied and won all three bouts in the second wave on courts one, three, and five, to complete the come-from-behind win, 3-2..
In the second dual against the Panthers, the Bruins improved to 5-0 in the series with Georgia State. Graduate student Kelli-Greene-Agnew and sophomore Natalie Myszkowski posted a 21-11, 21-14 win over GSU's Ayla Johnson and Maddy Delmonte on court five to seal the 3-2 win. The Bruins led 3-0 to clinch, but then dropped courts one and three to provide the 3-2 final.
The Bruins return to action next week at the Pac-12 North Invitational at Stanford, Calif. UCLA opens with California on Friday, Apr. 7 at 10:00 a.m. PT on the Pac-12 Networks.
