Big Ten Opponents Announced for 2024, 2025 Football Seasons

ROSEMONT, Ill. -- The Big Ten Conference announced Thursday the 2024-25 conference football scheduling model, which includes home and away opponents in the nine-game conference slate for UCLA's first two years in the league. The Bruins play at least one game against each of the other 15 schools in the Big Ten during the two seasons and have home-and-home dates with three of them: Nebraska, Rutgers and USC.
The Big Ten opponent the Bruins most recently battled on the gridiron was Nebraska at the 2015 Foster Farms Bowl. UCLA has a series history in football with each of the Big Ten schools except for Indiana and Rutgers and has played the most games (13), outside of USC, against Nebraska.
Each member institution will continue to play nine intraconference games per season, and teams will play every other conference opponent at least twice โ once home and once away โ in a four-year period.
In the 2024 campaign, UCLA plays host to five league opponents in Minnesota, Nebraska, Northwestern, Ohio State and USC. The Bruins last hosted the Golden Gophers in 1978, the Cornhuskers in 2012, the Wildcats in 1970 and the Buckeyes in 2001. UCLA's road opponents include Iowa and Michigan, along with first-ever meetings with Indiana and Rutgers. The Bruins most recently played at Iowa in the 1981 season and at Michigan in 1996.
In 2025, UCLA hits the road to play against five conference foes: Illinois, Michigan State, Nebraska, Penn State and USC. The Bruins welcome the quartet of Maryland, Purdue, Rutgers and Wisconsin to Pasadena, Calif. UCLA last played at Illinois in 2004, at Michigan State in 1973, at Nebraska in 2013 and at Penn State in 1967. UCLA hosts Maryland for the first time since its national championship season of 1954 and plays its first-ever game at Rutgers. The Bruins most recently hosted Purdue in the regular season in 1979 and Wisconsin in 1980.
The 2024 season will conclude with the annual Big Ten Football Championship Game, which will feature the top two teams in the overall conference standings at the end of the regular season, with the winner earning the Big Ten Championship. Tiebreaking procedures will be announced later.
The game dates for the 2024 football schedule will be announced later this year.
