UCLA Beach Volleyball Earns USMC/AVCA Team Academic Honors

LEXINGTON, Ky. – The two-time national champion UCLA beach volleyball team received the 2022-23 USMC/AVCA Team Academic Award as announced by the AVCA.The award—co-presented by the United States Marine Corps and the American Volleyball Coaches Association—was first initiated during the 1992-93 academic year and honors volleyball teams that maintain a year-long grade-point average of 3.3 on a 4.0 scale or 4.1 on a 5.0 scale. A record-setting 1,333 collegiate and high school volleyball teams earned the USMC/AVCA Team Academic Award this year, as the program celebrates its 31st anniversary.
"The commitment our coaches make to help their student-athletes pursue the best versions of themselves is evident in the academic accomplishments highlighted today." said AVCA CEO Jaime Gordon. "Achievement on the court has always been closely tied to success in the classroom which is reflected by the number of championship programs honored."
The Bruins have received the AVCA's Team Academic Award five times. UCLA has twice earned the academic award while winning a NCAA Championship in the same season (2018 and 2019). The Bruins were one of 46 collegiate beach volleyball squads to receive the honor this season.
