UCLA Gymnastics Welcomes Nya Reed to 2024 Squad

The R.C. Rothman UCLA Head Gymnastics Coach Janelle McDonald has added graduate transfer Nya Reed to the 2024 squad. Reed comes to UCLA from the University of Florida, where she earned a total of six All-America honors.

Reed, who hails from Landover, Md., competed at Florida as a vault and floor specialist from 2019-22. In her final two seasons as a Gator, she scored 9.9 or higher on every floor exercise routine, averaging 9.9432 in 2022 and 9.9375 in 2021. She earned a pair of perfect 10s in 2022 and was a two-time first-team regular season All-American and two-time second-team NCAA National Championship All-American on floor. Additionally, she totaled four SEC Specialist of the Week honors in her career. On vault, Reed averaged 9.880 in 2022, with eight scores of 9.9 or better, including a high of 9.975. She earned first-team NCAA National Championship All-America honors on vault in 2021 and was a second-team regular season All-American and an All-SEC selection in 2022.

Reed, who earned her Bachelor's degree this yearย in Applied Physiology & Kinesiology, was a SEC Academic Honor Roll selection all four years and a 2020 WCGA Scholastic All-American. She was also selected to the SEC Community Service team in 2022.
