Megan Faraimo Named Athletes Unlimited Rookie of the Year

LOS ANGELES โ€“ Three-time All-American UCLA softball pitcher Megan Faraimo was named the 2023 Athletes Unlimited Rookie of the Year after a breakout season this summer.

Faraimo's debut season was highlighted by the second no-hitter in league history on May 6. In 12 appearances and 53.0 total innings, the former two-time Pac-12 Pitcher of the Year posted a 3-3 record with 46 strikeouts and a 2.87 earned run average. She finished the year ranking seventh in Athletes Unlimited in points with 1,214.

Faraimo, who concluded her UCLA career last May third on the Bruins' all-time wins list (101) and strikeouts list (1,000), continues her professional journey overseas in the Japan Diamond Softball League with the Toyota Red Terriers where plenty of former UCLA greats have competed. She will also continue competing in USA Softball events.

The Oceanside, Calif. native graduated with a bachelor's degree in sociology. Faraimoย was named UCLA softball's first Pac-12 Student-Athlete of the Year and received the Pac-12 Tom Hansen Medal in her redshirt senior season.
