Ryan Selected to Mackey Watch List

UCLA'sย Carsen Ryan was named to the 2023 John Mackey Award Preseason Watch List on Friday in an announcement by The Friends of John Mackey. The award is given annually to the most outstanding collegiate tight end as voted on by the John Mackey Award Selection Committee.

Ryan saw action in the first five games of the 2023 season (Bowling Green, Alabama State, South Alabama, Colorado, Washington) for the Bruins. He caught a season-high three passes for 58 yards in a win over Alabama State. He added two receptions against Bowling Green, good for 16 yards, and registered a single catch in the victory over South Alabama for eight yards.

Ryan and the Bruins will open the 2023 season on Sept. 2 at Rose Bowl Stadium against Coastal Carolina. Kickoff is planned for 7:30 p.m. and will be broadcast by ESPN. On Sept. 9, UCLA travels to play at San Diego State in a 4:30 p.m. game to be televised by CBS. The Bruins close out the non-conference portion of the schedule at home against North Carolina Central on Sept. 16. Kickoff is slated for 2 p.m. on the Pac-12 Network.
